i finally put sp1 on one of my computers and now the monitor wont go into power save/standby, the screen goes all black and the light stays green, it used to be mostly off and just have the orange light on, need to save energy and i dont want my monitor to have burnt in patches (i doubt they happen from blank black screens but w/e)

monitor is philips 107s, video card is integrated ati rage pro turbo i think (which i also upgraded the drvers for recently)

suggestions?

I just turn my monitor OFF when I'm not using it. Nothing worse than a screen saver or power save mode going on while you are playing a game.

Seems to be a real problem though. Can't prove my assumption since I haven't bothered to research it. But I experience it as well. The good old trusty power button works a lot better. Even tried shut down after 1hr of no use into hibernation mode. Work great unless winamp is playing.. once ya boot back up shit hits the fan.

Maybe install the monitor drivers? Though experience has shown monitor drivers install dick all, expect the name of the monitor. :P Or make things look worse.

Could check for how any duplicates of power saving modes are in use, tends to happen from time to time. Could be a conflict.

No idea though.

I hope your not using xp's fast switching for diff names.
I noticed that messes up the powersave on my monitor. I have it set to 15 mins, and it had NEVER gone off on me when doing stuff. Gaming, watching a movie, etc.
But I know if I do a fast switch to a diff user name, even for a sec, when I switch back, it will NEVER go off unless I go back into the powersave screen and just hit ok.
Then itll act normal again.

I believe there is a limitation of using the MS ATI drivers... any drivers for that.
Something to do with not allowed to supply the drivers with proper OpenGL support, only D3D.
Anyone is welcome to correct me.
