I still use DOS to flash most my xbox 360 stuffs. I noticed since my new motherboard I cant boot to DOS. I have a usb drive and an SD card made bootable. SD card goes straight to DOS. Now it hangs for a bit and sometimes errors I think about heapsize or some crap.
the thumbdrive is rigged for hirens so if I pick a dos, it hangs.
however if I pick an app like acronis, and then cancel out of it when it loads, it pops me back to a prompt and works perfectly fine.
Any idea how to find how what hirens is doing or just fix my dos prob?

Too many variables to know for sure. Try making a bootable CD that goes to DOS.

One of the variables that initializes dos (its been a LONG time since I looked through an autoexec.bat) is goofy.

Look through any init files you can find that power the boot menu, and how acronis runs a copy of dos, then copy those over to the dos run menu, without running acronis.

acronis is a linux kernel I think.
try tiny linux or puppy linux maybe?
I find booting to keys problematic on a lot of machines
be nice when it becomes a standard ability like booting to cd

I checked again. my sd card will hang a good 2 mins then say stack errors. I wrote em down and post em later to do a search.
even more amusing my friend said try ctrl-c to stop the acronis load and it works.
so I can load up hirens, select acronis (others prolly work but for now Ive done that), hit ctrl-C to kill batch and itll drop me in the r: ramdisk where i can c: to my usb drive and get to work.
its odd. if i pick some of them dos options on hirens it hangs on Open key or some such message..
