For sure. Chilling with the family for a month or two, then off to school.

Total swerve of topic but anyone out there stand in line for an iPad? If so, was it worth the wait? Just read an article on isupply and found that it cost apple approx. $260 to build. Anyone pissed off about that?

That's how Apple does it. How do you think they keep their profits high.

Well holy crap. Went down a memory lane Google Trek and I found this thread. Some might remember me. Some might not. Some might see the list of people I have spotted in on this board and named and added others which I remember and simply say "Bullshit"

Just as a refresher, I hosted one of the three private SH/Mitosis IRC servers for a year or two before there was an exodus in '98 I think it was...hell, I don't even remember the reasoning (I think it had to do with the exploitation of some of our coding brethren though). Hell, it is even a chore for me to even go on message boards for the last number of years.

I did some looking through a bunch of posts here waiting to get "approved" and of all things from all people, I have to say I can totally relate to what Si said here:

Man, the net sure feels different now. Must have been what it was like to grow up when cars were just starting get mass produced. All the sudden the cities changed and all sorts of businesses formed around that one industry. I guess the net is more corporate now. I can tell I'm getting old since I just can't seem to get into the 'new' stuff anymore.

Blogs do nothing for me. Why do I want to read what some 15 year old girl from Michigan ate for dinner? I use Amazon and Ebay more for reference than I do for shopping.

I totally understand that. I mean...the mistique is gone and with it a lot of the allure as much of this new stuff holds no appeal for me. Maybe it is just part of maturing...or being a systems analyst has killed the passion (as I always feared it would). Or perhaps it is a return to grassroots that is needed. I dunno.

But priorities change too. In the years since I left SH I went from absolute pothead with a POS k-car and my next paycheck to my name to being married, a career...and a complete 360 in the direction my life was heading (granted...i attribute this all to the patience and love of the most wonderful woman in the world).

But definately, greetz to all of you. Below is a list of familiar names to me which I have identified in DBY and then added some more in case anyone here knows how to get a hold of some of the others. And I am sure there are more. Would love to reconnect.
