I live 15 minutes away from Zildjian headquarters. I drive by it a lot. I don't play drums though. If I remember correctly, Sabian symbols are essentially the same as Zildjian, because the formula was stolen by a former employee (or something) and Sabian was formed. Have no idea if that's true or not.

The Zildjian cymbal recipe has been handed down to the eldest son in the family since the business was started. A while back, the second brother thought the oldest brother wasn't fit to run the company, so he stole the recipe, and started Sabian. Must make family reunions a bit rocky! Really, the main differences between Zildjian and Sabian are so small, only drum dorks and sound techs can tell the difference!

Next time you drive by Zildjian HQ, ask if they want to sponsor a drummer in an up and coming band (ie: get me some free shit! lol).

Hah, fun stuff. I've been looking to get an electronic set for solo practice (for those who don't know, regular drum sets have 1 volume setting: REALLY LOUD), but damn if they aren't stupid expensive...

You can get a decent set for around 500-1000 with a somewhat reasonable brain. The sensors themselves are virtually created equal - its all in the A-D-A sampler/converter to get quality. Realistically all the quality can be done in software, so a relatively cheap electronic set + computer + high end samples can sound great on the cheap.

Well, I consider anything over $300 expensive, so yeah :P

There is no cure for that condition.

I would love an electronic kit, but I'd want to get a high end one, which, sadly, can go up to $3000. Sigh... I would love to have one when I move back out on my own so I can play. Hell, I wish I can have one now so I can play more.
