GA-H55M-UD2H running a i3 pentium CPU.

My brother got this last weekend and I went to install the CPU and took the cover off the Mobo CPU cover to see that some of the pins are bent in random places.

The pins are so fine compared to AMD ones and I dont think I could bend any back without messing more up.

Because he got this mobo and CPU as part of a package I am worried they might say I did it when intalling the CPU, although the CPU is not used. any ideas where I stand on this if they kick off the board should be under warranty so can I send it back to the manufacturer

deal with intel directly.
tell them you brought the combo from said vendor and when you pulled the cpu after it didn't post they refused to replace it saying I did it which I didn't.

if you really did damage it the store may tell you sorry.
intel is pretty good with repairs and rturns.

Thanks although the CPU is fine got that running in another board at the moment, the problem is the MOBO the pins are part of that and are bent in random places 2/4 here and there its a gigabyte board, I'm thinking maybe it just might work if I try the CPU in it?

If the pins don't line up with the CPU terrible things can happen. The MB should have had a hard cover locked in place to protect the pins. Send it back. Where did he buy it from? Hopefully you can just send the MB back for a replacement. You shouldn't have used the CPU already. I guess they can tell if it's been used (or at least overclocked).

Well here is an update, Took it back to the shop he looked at the board and said in no less than 30 seconds that its void its warrenty as its me thats done it.

I said bull shit this board never had a CPU in it, which it didn't I never put the CPU in I would have took the shit if I had. he wasn't having any of it. I argued the fact that the pins had 4/5 bent in the middle on the right hand side, on the left hand side at the bottom it had 3 bent facing out onto the plastic frame and again at the top right corner 2 were bent.

I said this is too random for a cpu to be forced or put in the wrong way because if it was a whole row of pins would be buggered.

I said I had built pc's for over 13 years and never come across a board like this he argued he had done it for 20 years and he was a shop so how many do you think I have built.

For the record it did have a protective cover on it when I took this off I noticed it was like it was, I tried to explain to the bloke could this have happend when the board was made by the company gigabyte he said no never happens.

He said to me when I called him on the phone before I took it back that as long as there is no physical damage to the board its ok and he said the same in the shop. however I said this is crap what if I bought the board and parts of it were hanging off right out the box would it be my fault then and he said well end of the day you would get the blame and its a 50/50 case as to whether you are right or not more than not the customer is wrong and its them that have broken the parts not the manufacturer sending out faulty goods.

So anyway he is sending the board out to gigabyte at a cost to me to get them to look at it but he said they will say I did it and thats that.

I even showed him the CPU and fan to show I hadn't used them as the silver compound was still new on the fan.

more than likely he took it back as a return by someone else who fucked it up and didn't realize until he inspected it and now is pasing it off on you.

your complaint with gigabyte is that you brought this board from so-in-so and it was this way and now he's blaming you.

they may or may not fix it for free.
but next time you buy anything, always inspect it right there on the spot.

Like he says, its 50/50 either way. You could be a very good liar. I would have played dumb - "you sold me a bent socket"

Interestingly enough my friend recently had the same issue with NCIX. Gigabyte board with bent pins on it. It took them weeks to sort it out and ended up costing him more money.
