The Wired article on the game was fascinating and kinda sad- they blew it multiple times. I admire the owner/company employees striving for absolute perfection and "it's done when it's done" motto, but they did themselves in so many times.

I wont believe it till its ON the shelves. Longest work in progress ever. I just hope that the end results for these guys are good. if it DOES finally ship, and its crap... yikes!

I think the game has gone through so many engine changes/upgrades that they will never finish it.

They should just kill it.
Make a new IP, with a some projected rules for completion.

They killed it a while ago. there is talks that their publisher might push something through with another studio and the existing work... but really, it should just be laid to rest.

It LOOKS pretty damn finished to me. Although that could mean there's only 5 levels of so completed.

The longer they wait, the less it's going to make them any $$$.

I was just about to post a link about Duke Nukem Forever finally getting a serious release schedule with GearBox taking over. Hope it will be worth the wait.

Supposedly the employees that worked at 3D Realms (the original developer that had been working on this for so many years) managed to continue working on it last year after being laid off, and they actually had the PC port completed end of last year. And supposedly GearBox is just polishing the PC port and then creating XBox 360 and PS3 versions, so there's a bit of inner grumbling about GearBox taking more credit than deserved.

From the comments I've read it sounds like it's fun to play, but graphics a tad dated-looking. That's no big surprise considering how long it's taken, but looks aren't everything. I'm sure with this much development time and attention to detail it's going to be good.
