Anybody actually use this and care to comment? Is it worth doing (and possibly a poor's man solution to an SSD?

For anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about, certain USB drives in Vista/7 are said to "speed it up" by being used as a sort of scratch drive for fast writes.

Have not tryed it yet on w7, but hear that they removed the limite. Got a mate there tryed it for he project in photoshop, he did not have any effect. Gusse it work with some programes and others don't.

I thought ReadyBoost was dropped. I never read anything really good about it.

Just buy an OCZ 60GB Agility SSD. A great drive for a boot drive for a decent price.

SSD drives are way too overpriced for the limited benefit they give. maybe in a year or 2 if they take off I might think about getting one but not at the moment

OK, so after trying it I have found that:

ReadyBoost is pretty much useless if you have any decent amount of RAM (over 2GB).

I think it's more useful if you only have 1GB or so.

It actually slowed my 4GB system down. Made UT3 stutter like mad.

You wouldn't say that if you changed your boot drive to a fast SSD. Even a low-end computer will see a big improvement.
