I'm tired of Acrobat. Is their an alternative PDF viewer available for Windows that is small and resource easy?

take your pick. I prefer acrobatbut these are free with one being trialware.
Adobe Reader – Adobe's freeware PDF reader.
Evince - a free (GPL), open source PDF reader. Part of the GNOME desktop environment. Windows port available since version 2.28.
Foxit Reader – freeware reader, supports FDF import/export, saving filled forms; other extended functionality available via purchasable plugins.
Global Graphics gDoc Fusion- commercial/shareware to view PDF, XPS, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or image files, included in the evaluation version of the product. Shareware version places a watermark on documents after 30 day eval.
GSview – Open source software Ghostscript's viewer for Windows.
PDF-XChange Viewer – freeware viewer, supports FDF/XFDF import/export, saving filled forms, extended markup and export to image capabilities.
Qiqqa – freeware PDF reader, indexer, tagger and annotator. Supports OCR and export of PDF text and images.
Sumatra PDF – a free, open source PDF reader. Supports automatic reloading of PDF files.
STDU Viewer - a freeware for non-commercial usage PDF reader. It also supports DjVu, Comic Book Archive (CBR or CBZ), XPS, TIFF, TXT and image file formats.
Nuance PDF Reader - freeware PDF reader, supports saving filled forms, partial support for XFA forms; enables the capability to convert PDF files to MS Word or Excel files through Nuance website.

Acrobat is great -- just go into the install directory and delete all the plugins. Most are not needed, and then it loads instantly.

I like using Google Docs for the most part, internet connection required.

Acrobat Pro on Windows (I used to remove plugins to speed up loading time until I got a faster 'pooter) and just using Preview on OS X.

I used to use Acrobat Reader, but I found it would be running even though it wasn't open and it was using a lot of resources. Could be a bug with IE plug-in. I just need a simple viewer that's resource easy.

Probably going to try Foxit Reader. Seems to be popular, but that could be a bad thing (security wise).

adobe had the speedlauncher, and acrotray which you can disable from msconfig.
I havn't had any issues with adobe that was a major problem, the occaisional distiller crashing and crashing the print spooler but that's rare.

It wasn't acrotray running. When I'd view a PDF while browsing in IE, then close the PDF, acrobat.exe (or whatever it's called) would still be running. There were no open windows or tray icon. Even closing all instances of IE didn't get rid of it.

I figured since I switched to Win7 recently, I would only install apps that I need/use regularly. I figured I would look for an alternative to acrobat reader.

have you tried disabling the acrobat plugin from ie. what would hapen then is acrobat would open in it's own app so when you close reader the exe should close.
