I took the plunge and installed Win7 on my main system. When I log in to DBY, everything seems normal until I browse a topic (e.g. Chatterbox, PC-Hardware Woes?, etc.). Then I'm not logged in anymore. If I log in again, I'm back at main forum page, but when I click a main topic, I'm not logged in again.

WTF.

Is this 64bit or 32bit? I installed 64bit, and 64bit IE didn't work well, but MS was nice enough to provide 32bit IE already there.
Anyways... use FF or G.Chrome.

I'm using 32-bit. I normally like IE better than the others. I used to use FF just for DBY. As long as I don't tick "Remember Me" box it's fine. When I type ma, macgyver shows up in username. Then the password is added automatically also.

It could be a UBB Threads thing. When I was using FF, I never ticked the "Remember Me" box and it always did remember me. I'm still adjusting to Win7.

Hahaha.. Why do people still use IE? ... IE9 actually looks like it might be good. The beta should be soon.

I use FF, but IE8 is a better browser for me. It is the standard for most websites.

If at website is still that draconian, you need to tell them. IE is only popular cause its there with the OS. For me I can't think of a website in the last couple years that didn't work in FF/Opera/Webkit. There is a few that give a warning, but still let you to attempt.

Anyone that codes by the standards generally have to put in hacks to make IE work, or make giant comprimizes.

Starting writing and bitching to the people that make websites that only work in IE, MS even with IE9, will not be web complaint.

I run into a few that look like shit in FF, but generally discover that those sites use javascript for visual layout rather than the more sensible html or css. A quick "temporarily allow..." in noscript usually fixes it up. It's been a while since I've seen anything that is specific to IE.

MS was smart to include it with the OS.

I've just had better luck in the past with IE, so I've stuck with it. FF is fine, but it doesn't bring anything new to me, that IE can't do. I don't care about plugins. I like to keep things simple.
