Yay i got it up and running... everything seems ok

but................

on initial boot the bios quick double beeped and said cpu fan failure or fan failure or something like that. After that it went into windows installation. I looked at the cpu fan and it's spinning just fine, i looked at the other two fans and they are spinning just fine.

It's been at least an hour since initial boot up and install... should i be worried? Now ASUS has this smart boot thing and it just goes straight to windows, i disabled it but i have yet to be able to duplicate the beeps or error msg.

i'm gonna try to post pics too

The beeps due to fans, could be that the fans spin at lower rpm than the bios detects.

Motherboard: Asus M4A87TD EVO
CPU: AMD Phenom x4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4ghz Socket AM3 125w
Ram: Gskill Ripjaw 4gig (2x2gig) ddr3 1600 [model: F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL]
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD5830 1gig 256-bit ddr5
Power Supply: 750w Corsair modular psu

so far so good... i'm enjoying the new computer... but i think it's running a little hot. on one of the hot days here in ny the cpu got up to 80c while playing starcraft. now that we're into fall it hasn't gone past 71c but i still think that's high. I have an Arctic Pro aftermarket heatsink/fan but not sure it's doing any better than the stock heatsink/fan would have. It is completely quiet though so that's nice. I'll probably get some thermal stuff and reseat it at the end of winter when the weather starts getting warm again.

Are you using the stock CPU HSF? .. I always like getting aftermarket ones.
Currently using a Scythe Shurken, its getting kinda long in the tooth now. Its been on 3 different sockets so far. And I've changed the rentention mechnism as least 5 times. Hah.
I'm thinking of switching up to a all-in-one Water cooled solution. Like the Corsair h50.

Which Arctic heatsink/fan are you using? There are probably better coolers at good prices. Check out FrostyTech.

sweet power supply smile the HX series are pretty nice. I wanted one for my system back when i built it but i think the only options back then were the hx620 and hx1000, and i wanted a 750W - 850W.
