I have a GA-h55m-usb3, and it is experiencing sound stuttering issues. To the best of my knowledge, I have all the sound drivers all up to date. Any fixes for this problem? It is very frustrating to use this great computer to listen to music or watch movies when the sound skips. I ran a latency check, and it did seem to come up with problems. From the sounds of it could be any devices. Do you guys have any recommendations for software that does a good job keeping system drivers up to date (that's free?)

Also another weird issue, when i was working on the system, the speakers were occasionally making some distorted noises that almost sounded like music. I checked all my apps.. no music playing. I even unplugged the splitter from the output of my pc.. STILL some garbled music distortion. Obviously wasnt the PC. I figured out it was my blu ray player that was causing a feedback to my speakers. I turned off the blu ray player that was on the menu screen, and the sound stopped. I have my pc and bluray player connected to a receiver. The receiver was off. Weird.

What is your computer hardware specs? OS? Apps installed? What's running when sound stutters? What are you splitting and what cables are you using? How is the PC connected to A/V receiver?

Those apps that keep system drivers up-to-date are a waste. If you are running Win7, then it does a good job of installing new WHQL drivers when available.

playback stuttering could be from anything, cpu, app cpu usage in the background, antivirus. does it happen when no apps are running? how does it play in safemode? is it all music formats? it could be your codecs. do you have an intergrated soundcard or seperate soundcard? have you tried older drivers, sometimes newer drivers create issues.

that sound could be caused by:
1. poor audio cable grounding.
2. both the pc and amp plugged into the same powerstrip or receptacle.
the pc power cord has a ground, and so does the reciver, what is created is a ground loop.

Ground loop is a condition where an unintended connection to ground is made through an interfering electrical conductor. Generally ground loop connection exists when an electrical system is connected through more than one way to the electrical ground.

When two or more devices are connected to a common ground through different paths, a ground loop occurs. Currents flow through these multiple paths and develop voltages which can cause damage, noise or 50Hz/60Hz hum in audio or video equipment. To prevent ground loops, all signal grounds need to go to one common point and when two grounding points cannot be avoided, one side must isolate the signal and grounds from the other.

ways to resolve it.
ground loop isolator, or ground loop filter.

if what you're hearing is crosstalk, get better cables or connectors.
