Hmmm... Hannspree 25" LCD monitor REVIEW

I had some time and money to burn today, so I picked up a 25" Hannspree lcd monitor.
Hannspree? Yeah it's a name that rings no bell with me, I read up a little on the name before buying, overall consumer response seemed positive. The 2ms response time sold me, I thought what the hell and picked one up.
The color on this thing, right out of the box brand new is without a doubt the absolute farthest from calibration I've ever seen in a monitor at least since the mid-1990s, back when gamma controls on a PC were very uncommon. This monitor had such a bright blu-ish cast that was anything but pleasant. I will tell you, it was only after loading the supplied drivers, adjusting ICC profiles, using two third party color calibration software programs in tandem with the monitor's own controls was I able to tame the blue balance down enough to where I felt the desktop was semi-usable.
The video timings were so bad I had to keep asking myself if I was in fact using an LCD, because it sure looked like a 10 year old CRT monitor. No adjustment of the sharpness controls would make the text any more reasonable. It was only when I adjusted video timings in a 3rd party program specifically for the Hannsprees (the only way to do this, FYI; apparently I'm not the only one with such issues)
Now that I've got the timings and color somewhat decent, I'm not sitting here feeling like I got raped on this one. But I'm probably going to take this one back. Should have known better with such a goofy name. Hannspree. Fuck. I got pickle surprised.
Of course I'm a graphics guy, I'm a little sensitive to color and maybe notice when things are off when some wouldn't, but I think the color was so far off the mark anyone with eyesight would notice it.
I have 4 HP LCD monitors, all great color, resolution, should have stuck with that brand.

take it back, I was selling that brand and nothing but trouble, one that I did a rma on was under a 3yr warranty, I emailed them the invoice that I sold it to the customer and even though it was both manuf. and my selling within the warranty I had to go off on the phone support person, after getting the rma, it took a month and a half for them to send it back.
take it back bro.

Sounds like a cheap TN panel LCD. Your HPs are probably PVA panels (maybe IPS). Most LCDs need calibration out of box.

The only Hanspree I would like, is the 10" apple shaped one. The apple open up to show the lcd, and the speakers are mounted on the doors.

Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.Gee, it's out of stock. Now I wonder why that is? XD The overall product build and quality feel definitely says "Hannspree" to me... It actually reminds me of the Samsung GX "gaming tv" with the flip open doors. I remember seeing them around the same time the Sony Playstation started taking off (1996). http://www.tampaforums.com/forums/electronics-fs/samsung-gx-tv-gaming-tv-monitor-f-s-283164/

That GX is a BEAST and I'm in LOVE! The Hannspree Apple is at least 3-4 years old. A few of the College St. PC shops had it on display. Always overpriced.
