I'll wait for stable drivers for Linux before I make a switch. And even then maybe not. Curious how much more $$$ and speed the yet the be released high end CPU / chipset will be. I'm sad the all the ITX boards will only have the H67 chipset, no CPU overclock, at this moment in writing. P67 gets you an easy free OC up to 4.5GHz on air cooling. Damn.

Horray there is a rumble that Gigabyte will release a second ITX board that has P67. Now to rob a bank.

The top CPU (2600K) is $330 right now. You need to get a "K" CPU to overclock. Not bad considering what you get. The built-in graphics still sucks. A $50-$75 NVIDIA or AMD video card will beat it. The 32nm is nice. Cool running and less power hungry. The ASUS P8P67 Deluxe seems to be the board to get. I'd still wait for more boards to get released (so prices settle down) and firmware to mature.

People might also want to wait for the Z68 chipset for Sandybridge. The Z68 chipset will allow you to use the built-in GPU when overclocking (you can't overclock on P67 and use built-in GPU).

I'll probably wait for the high-end Sandybridge CPUs (without integrated GPU) with the X68 chipset. Intel at first will launch those CPUs at 8 cores (16 threads) with quad memory channel (their will only be 4 memory slots).

keep us posted when to buy & what cpu & mobo ( keep me posted your much better with hardware selection then me)

Right now, I would get the i7-2600k (~$330). The 2500k is also possible. They have a different built-in GPU, but that doesn't matter to me. Both seem to easily hit at least 4.5GHz. The ASUS P8P67 Deluxe is my choice for MB. You could get the P8P67 PRO for less and some missing features. I will at least wait for the Z68 MBs to come out. To be able to use the graphics and overclock at the same time could be handy.

It always comes down to what the computer is going to be used for.

I think with the i7 Sandy Bridge I can finally build a nice HTPC that will do about anything I want.
