try hat ubcd4win boot cd, I used it to recove data off a bad drive.
google it and download the image. rawcopy worked for me o imag the drive and the other recovery tools worked to get some needd data quickly (qbooks)

the drive wouldn't show up in windows at all and while plugged in disk manager would just hang.
but I recovered it all.

Thanks HarryB, grabbing it now. It's worth a shot, this looks like a nice tool to keep in my toolbox of spare PC parts and stuff.

Doesn't running two AV apps at the same time cause problems? AV apps are good at finding shit after you get infected. Not much help then.

you can run some av apps together without any problems, some you can't like mcafee and norton, or norton and avast.
i used symantec corp, with clamwin.

Yeah I have been running dual AV programs without much hassle. They don't slow my machines down either.

I find that AVG Free seems to do a good job of flagging suspect downloaded files before I can even get to the download folder. My only complaint is that it keeps seeing a false positive with some old romset I have for MAME so I have to make sure to exclude it from the scans.
