Have to say I was timid about upgrading my netbook to a AMD Fusion APU. But now pretty much everything is supported.

I went with an Acer 522 AMD C-50, and upgraded the ram to 2GB (huge difference in performance).

Everything seems to be working perfectly fine.
Ubuntu 10.10 (Maveric), AMD Catylist 11.5

Video playback is not so hot with Vsync turned on. So I'll put up with tearing for now. Graphical overlays on video overlays only work with a compositor engine working. Some graphic overlays are a bit glitchy, but no show stoppers as of yet.

My 522 came with a Broadcom b/g/n Wifi, which doesn't work out of the box, but I'm gonna replace it with my older Atheros b/g for easier use.

I need to tweak the touchpad. Definetly triggering it more so than in Windows.

Only gripes with the netbook itself:
- 1GB pre-installed is way too little, 256MB is reserved for the GPU. Supports up to 4GB, went with 2GB.
- Viewing angles on the LCD is are pretty shitty. But its 10.1" at 1280x720p which is awesome.
- Broadcom WiFi, boo.

Pretty sweet kit for $280.

Dang, mPCIe slot is half length, my Atheros is full length. Tempted to solder on the second mPCIe connector as its full length. Broadcom proprietory drivers work well enough.

3G Data USB stick gets lots of errors, works like once every billizion times at random. Messed with modprobe and mode settings. Doesn't seem to make much a difference. Oh well, gonna get a proper land line soon anyways.

Blinged out the desktop. Compiz, Conky (Conky Lau 2011 modded), Elegant Gnome Pack.

Gotta say wow installing and uninstalling (kernel upgrades) Catilyst is way easier than nVidia's efforts.

I guess it depends on the source. I quit bothering with the latest drivers from nvidia's website when I discovered the nvidia-glx Debian package in non-free is essentially the same (just not the very latest version...but having the latest has never been a particular benefit to me). Once it's configured, apt-get upgrade or apt-get dist-upgrade keeps it properly updated. The only thing I have to be concerned about is restarting after each driver upgrade.

Nearly got into an annoying situation in this department. Debian recently changed the location of the openGL libraries, but they didn't think about how it would affect the nvidia driver. If I had not taken note of what packages were to be changed with a dist-upgrade, apt would have completely removed my nvidia packages. I had to wait a couple of weeks until they got it straightened out before doing a dist-upgrade.

So, word of advice for those who use apt/aptitude/synaptic (Debian, Ubuntu): Pay close attention to what apt is about to change. Doing apt-get upgrade will sometimes (particularly on testing/unstable/ubuntu) hold packages back. In those situations, doing apt-get dist-upgrade will install the necessary dependencies to upgrade those held-back packages, but may also try to remove some installed packages if they are not compatible with the upgrades. I would not recommend simply saying "yes" to an upgrade before checking what changes are about to be done.
