Well since I worked at a ISP I have been having problems with co workers who think they are clever to hack my computer.

I need a firewall (soft and hard), any Internet security apps that will help, and an application that monitors suspicious communication.

Obviously there are a lot of firewalls with a big price range. I would like to find something as similar to a Cisco firewall without paying the price. Any suggestions?

And as for the software firewall, I need something freeware or something that is worth the money to buy it. Once again any suggestions?

BTW, Glad to be back after disappearing for the last year off and on.

and this is for while you're at work?
if so just put a cheap linksys router between your pc and the network.
unplug your pc from the network, plug in the router, plug your pc into the router.

software firewall I would say zone alarm which should have features to disable the internet at specific times, or turn on ie content advisor and set a password. that will limit internet access and ask for a password if the site isn't on the safe list.

or just break the keyboard over said employees head. people learn by example. rofl

an old linux box can make a great router with excellent logging and intrusion detection.
