you would need a media converter.they used to make hubs that had a coax connector which you could bridge to create a star network at each end.
the length of the coax run I don't know off the top of my head, but one of the consulting companies I worked for many years ago used it for the school for bad ass boys in pa.

Actiontec Ethernet Over Coax MoCA Adapter pair of them
the length is my concern.
is this the best way to do this project? how would you do it

cat5/6 or cat5e has limit of 326 ft or 100m can use longer run but with diminished results also more expensive as it should be buried using conduit or pvc

edit:
185 meters (about 600 feet)

you can try two accesspoints in bridge mode with directional antenneas.
or this.
here's a hub with bnc 2nd and 3rd on page
http://www.eusso.com/product3/ethernet%20hub.htm

or use ethernet extenders
http://www.neteon.net/Product/337-103-51...Qod-j-HRQ#order
or
http://www.planet.com.tw/en/product/product_ov.php?id=30798

or vdsl technology below.

or just hire a kid and give them a digital camera to take pics and run back and forth. sneakernet will never go out of style.*LOL*
