so a client and coworker decided to upgrade their iphones to ios5 after that they experienced battery drain, one user claimed they could not send email. the first thing they jumped to was the problem was the server.
I explained the server has been running fine for two years and with each update or upgrade on your phone you had problems which apple always blamed the server which is just passing the buck.
with the one users email, she did a reset and all was fine except the battery, she turned of location and her battery time increased, the other did the same and it didn't help, I then had her delete her account and recreate it to no success.
so she says the apple tech told her that exchange is looping. I tell her the tech doesn't know what he's talking about. it's your phone. if there was a problem with activesync, it would affect everyone and all iphones which it isn't. then pointed out the fact that when she turns off push the battery is fine, when on it drains. this person does not listen or follow advice and I'm planning on dropping them today. they know nothing yet they know everything and question everything I suggest or explain.

humm funny I did update on my wife's iPhone 4 and everything works , I think your clients are just not computer friendly LOL

this issue is with exchange and push, some say it's happening with gmail and push enables.
it's not every phone and it's not every update, apple passes the blame on exchange and all exchange does is sit and wait and services the request. I've sent this person every link showing this is not a rare instance and many have to turn off push and use fetch or buy extra batteries.
ain't nothing I can do except tell her to bitch at apple and don't take it's your server as an excuse.

so I get a email statng she had someone look into it and they stated I need to install exchange 2003 sp3 for activesync logging.

so I emailed her back stating there is no exchange sp3 nor is there a 2003 server sp3 and terminated services and added she should seek this expert to install these non-existant service packs.and informed her activesync logging is in the iis logs

people are stupid, arguing with somone they pay because some expert or someone they know says something.

fine, get the mofo to do it.

get this, the person telling them all this crap was one of the employee's boyfriends who works for cisco and claims he's a big time contractor for the govt. networks.

funny I never ever saw him, heard of him, or seen his name on any visitors logs regarding his claims to top secret network access.

in a interoffice email between the owner and said employee the owner stated I hope harryb is wrong.

so said owner has employee with iphone put her account on it and no battery drain, works fine, puts employee account on her phone and battery drain, then puts their own account on their respective phone, employee is fine, owner battery drain, her email states, see, it's the server, I was full of BS.

so the genius spends the evening messing with exchange from 7pm to 1230am, the owner says wow, it's fixed. 20 minutes later it's "disregard, it's not fixed"

they can mess with the server all they want, it's not going to fix the phone.

so it gets back to me that another IT company came in, gave them a quote for 1K for a network evaluation, and trying to force them into a monthly service management plan for 800.00 a month or pay 175.00 a hour.
so they paid the evaluaton fee and the result?

it's the phone.*LOL*
not what she wanted to hear so she got nasty and demanded her money back cause someone she knows says it's the server.

Priceless....

Some people just don't want to be wrong, and then it costs a lot of money.

yeah, and in the meantime, no one else iphones or droids and bberries are having any issue. like exchange decided to just fuck with her phone.

when another employee put her account on their iphone there was no battery drain or any issues, that right there tells her it's not exchange but her phone.

I tried to tell this chick but she never listened to me so I didn't really care and I documented everything she rejected and the problems they created.
so she hired a IT firm and they charged her 1500 to set up remote monitoring and patch updates which is bull because the server pushes out updates to all clients through wsus
then charge her 995.00 a month for unlimited support phone and remote. labor and onsite is not included.*LOL*
and to top it off, they claimed increased network security.
now how would I know all of this?*LMFAO*

I offered a 1K retainer which would last her 2 to 3 months.
and her phone battery is still draining, and this company fucked up outlook web access. they broke it.*LOL*

then they applied a server update that if they checked with the other software vendor would've found out that it breaks their main business app. so they havn't been able to do billing remotely.

and her iphone battery is still draining and they messed up her exchange server owa and worsened security, th server is completely exposed.*LOL*

and now that they really messes up exchange (information store won't mount, before that owa wan't accessible, and thy broke the pop connector, thy changed the administrator password which stopped several services which ran under that and also messed up he smarthost, this sad company is trying to blame me.*LOL*
all this over an iphone and the refusal to listen to me. I'm just hoping she follows through with her email regardng sueing me to recover the damages. they never stopped the logs from coming to me of all changes and errors.*LOL* they even created their own user accounts and the logs show what user changed what settings.and the phone is still draining.

lookie here, they got a email from another company to evaluate their network. so 2K blown and still running up the tab to prove me wrong.

still getting reports. so owner is at a law firm and she cannot vpn into her office, same thing when I managed her network and explained that it's on the other locations end, they must be blocking vpn. so she puts in a trouble ticket and this new IT company tells her the same thing.*LOL* and then he says, if she can get him connected to her laptop he can take a look, she declines it just like she would do me. it's only a matter of time before they drop her or if they have no self respect continue to take her money.

now before I dropped her, I told her she needs a better router than that cheap dlink the previous IT company installed. I offered her a cisco vpn router and the vpn client tunnels through port 80. also offered her a netgear prosafe utm which had vpn through jave and web browser also she declined.


I got a copy of the network analysis and there's nothing about my work that can be suspect. they found the notes and documentation regarding suggestions with date and time and response decline with date and time. so they now know she's bad news.

and her iphone is still draining the battery and exchange owa is still fucked and emails are getting bounced back.
