Hey all,
I installed XP Professional on my laptop and it was working fine but now the Administrator account disappeared. I had two users on it: Administrator and Quantum and now all it find is Quantum. Quantum has admin priviledges but I still wanna know why the fuck it disappeared and how to get it back! The user settings and files for it are still in Documents and Settings. Any ideas on what happened and how to fix it?

Thanks all,
Q

how odd
you normally get a bunch of warnings if you attempt to delete the admin accnt. just to go over the basics, the admin accnt isn't listed in the pretty Control Panel/User Accounts...
but it can be viewed by right clicking My Computer/go to Manage/then Local Users and Groups and in that list the under comp management the Admin accnt isn't there???

it's listed in the computer management utility but it doesn't display on the logon screen

that's a default if your system isn't joined to a domain, or if you don't have it set so that users have to hit ctrl+alt+del to login. If you go into safe mode you can log in as the main administrator. Hwoever, it's a security feature to not encourage you to login as administrator ;) Whenever possible, use a Power User account rather than administrator, it limits the damage that destructive software can do to your PC.
