so that's my problem, it's 10mb. no one will ever dl it so I have to trim it down A LOT! it's got the original bmp files in it. problem is when I try to delete it there are no more pictures in the movie, I thought it was connected to the symbols not the original bmps, suggesstions on how I should check this out?

The symbols still reference the original image. if you published with a size report, you'd see that the size of the symbols is practically nothing, but most of the filesile is in the bitmaps.
The only things i can suggest :
1) play with compression settings....try to compress each image individually (double-click the bitmap in the library and uncheck 'use document quality').
2) remove some of your images.
3) rebuild your movie in pieces.....this would mean each image is downloaded separately, so the user has to wait a bit in between images.
