Hey, i was hoping someone could help me with this. I just got a new external polaroid cd burner and when i plug it into the computer and turn it on, a little icon pops up in my status bar (green arrow over something) that says to remove/eject the burner. I installed all the things it said to and pluged it into the USB 2.0 port and it still doesnt work. I even tryed going through the manual hardware installation but it still says the same thing. What can i do to fix this and fully install the burner? oh and i have Windows ME

Well first thing is first walk over to the door and slam shut on head 6 or 7 times walk back to the computer begin by removing WINDOWS ME Put new op system on anyone apart from win95/me problem fixed.

i seriously doubt that i will have to go that far to fix it. Everything else works its just the burner wont install.

my best advice would be to uninstall the software and driver for the drive and remove drive from computer. then install the software and driver first the connect drive. If that does not work remove the crappy os you running and go with 2000 pro which is a deam compared to ME... but that last thing was in my opinion of course.

humm ok if you have windows me , go to the website of your brand of cd burner .
look for an updated driver ! download install should fix your problem.
now I don't know how old your mother board is but maybe your usb is 1.x version & the cd burner needs 2.x version ? just a thought .
humm what else ?
well don't forget in anycase to install aspi driver so you can burn cd with out making coaster!
the other thing is
usb connection are instant on so try your cd burning app to see if it can find your cd burner !

humm thats all I can think of atm . hope that helps . if all else fails return the usb burner & get a ide burner.
last but not least you may want to dump Windows Me as it was a Bad Joke OS put out by Microsoft.
I'm not sure they sell that OS any more LMAO
