This has got to be one of the best wargames ever made. Excellent scenarios, lots of fun weapons and vehicles. The american Priest mobile artillery unit is my favourite among vehicles (and the speedy jeep), and the american Thomson machine pistol the coolest gun.

I didn't know you could long for war, but if you do - this is the game for you.

Yeah, this IS a good game... one of the few i bought after playing the demos. The multiplayer experience is worth paying for it (which is good, cause single player is a joke).

yes, there is Subs on the Midway map and one other, can't remeber which it was... they suck... i was sorely disappointed... there is no real functionality, such as nifty looking gauges and whatnot that i felt it should have...

they just weren't my cup of tea...

oh right, and they should at least have a MG in the nest, if not a small deck gun too... but they don't, and that miffed me...

I'm thinking of setting up a server, using the Dedicated Server pack from Icculus. It's still in beta, but it requires less CPU power than the Windows server to be usable. I have a spare P3-650/256MB box. Do you think that would be enough? The server wouldn't run much (if anything) else.

Oh, and would you be interested?

Playing online with the different mods is definitely where its at for this game. I'm in a gaming clan that is thinking of starting a BF1942 squad. I don't currently play BF much, but we have lots of guys who do. Our server is BD's FF Off Splash On
IP: 207.18.224.203. Grim likes to play this a lot.

yeah this one is definitely a wins money on all counts...

there is also a really cool modern day mod called Desert Combat that I was checking out last night that is pretty cool. It has AH64 Gunships, F16s, M16s, modern tanks and other new toys...very well done for an early alpha
you can check screens for it here http://www.desertcombat.com/?page=press

heh you should give it a try...

as for a joystick...I use the standard KB/mouse combo for everything but using a joystick for flying...or maybe even driving the tanks could be fun...

I use keyboard and mouse, and can fly fairly well on keyboard now, but here that it is cooler with a proper joystick.

I use the keyboard and mouse too. I haven't tried the joystick yet but I should since I always crash the darn planes and get booed by my team mates.

Oh, and I can lower the ramp on the landing boats now too! Use the up arrow (or down arrow for raising it). Now they don't laugh at me for jumping around the boat until I get shot when trying to get onto the beach. LOL
