Not sure when this first started happening but I've noticed that my reader has started having well...reading problems. In particular it seems to relate to SVCDs.

For instance if I insert the disk and play the SVCD from PoweerDVD XP it takes a while to load and then starts playing, if I forward the disk or use the process bar to skip to a later section of the film when I hit play the whole thing slows down and starts jumping. This even happens when I don't skip. When XP eventually ends the task (as it usually won't close) it seems to be having a problem letting do of the reader. The green light contiues to light up until I press the eject button.

I've tried multiple DVD software but it doesn't seem to make a difference . Unfortunately I've installed quite a bit of ripping software recently so I'm not sure what is causing the problem. The logs just state there was a bad block on the disk but the problem is intermittent rather than continous.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
