hey I was wanting to get some half way decent 5.1 speakers for around $100. Who makes them?

I'm more concerned with sound quality than noise level

specific model numbers would be nice... and if you're feeling especially helpfull a link would be nice =)

Thanks

I'm not trying to be an ass, but for $100 you're better off buying good headphones. Expect to pay about $100 per speaker if you want any real quality; only my opinion, of course.

lucky for my pocketbook - I'm not an audiophile =)

I'm sure $100 speakers will suit me fine for the time being

Have you compared the $100 5.1 set to a good pair of headphones? I'm serious when I say I think that's the better deal for the money.

you gotta be kidding.. Eagle you get the positional audio for playing games on the computer and use your home theatre for music.

Wearing headphones sucks though. Only time i wanna wear headphones is when i wanna watch something loud in the dead of the night w/o waking up the parents or something.

Here's a sweet setup you might want to try out ... for anyone who's low on $ and wants descent sound. Cambridge Soundworks 2.1 about 29.99, which is two sats plus a descent woofer (unless you crank it too loud... it'll start coughing), plus 2 Koss/Labtec/Altec speakers... you can use a config like if you have SBLive and on. Keep the extra two (which costs like 10 btw) at the back and Cambridge at the front with the sub to the side... very nice sound imo. Almost as good as my headphones... and the thing with headphones is that you can't really hear anything else ... which scares me... -_- ... peace.

Whatever works for you. I hate cheap little speakers, even for games, and I'll take a good pair of headphones over that any time, but if you've got a home theater or even a stereo, why not hook up to it to play games?

My logitech 4.1 setup is plenty loud enough and sounds fine..

My home theatre doesn't consist of surround sound.. I don't like it in movies for some reason.. I'd like it if I had a vidscreen on all 4 walls then maybe surround sound would make a little bit more sense... so I have 2 big stereo speakers come up passed my waste..

I'd rather not have headphones wrapped around my ears if i can help it... plus I like hearing whats going on around me as well. I could be browsing hotlesbiansex.com or something and not even know someones standing right behind me for a good half hour or somethin =op

LOL

If that's your problem, you need a pair of "open" headphones, which don't block outside sound. Of course, anyone around you will hear whatever you're listening to.

And then i still have the problem with an uncomfortable pair of headphones attached to me. Plus im not the type of guy to sit down in one place for very long. I get up every 3-5 minutes to go do something or summa summa... i wouldnt wanna bother with being restricted by a cord or taking them off and putting them on and what not.. and i have less than no faith put in todays wireless technology.

Enough said. Great loudspeakers are way better than headphones anyway.

Hey, I'll take that over no capital letters. I've known someone who's keyboard apparantly lacked both period and shift keys.
