My brother's computer reboots all the time, does anyone know what the problem could be?

AMD Athlon XP 2600+
1 gig of DDR 333 RAM
Radeon 9700 pro

sounds EXACTLY like what i had to deal with on my dad's new computer 2 days ago, it turned out to be a f*ed up power supply, i just switched it out for another one and everything was ok

I would bet it's an overheating issue.

Loc: Here, of course.
From what i read it could still be almost anything.... like Harry said, more info required.

start running diagnositcs on your hardware though, memorey testers, various stress testers for different components (one at a time of course, otherwise your really not proving much)...

lots of good tools can be found at MajorGeeks.com

i'm a little familiar with his situation....

he is running an Asus A7.... something-something-something... the board with dual-on-board lan and shit....

he was running an MSI KT4V board...so far he has switched the pwr sup, the board, the ram, the hdd...... the system will randomly crash out of (a legit copy of) UT2k3...randomly reboot during cd-burning, during downloading, etc....

i told him to try switching the CPU and heatsink..... i haven't heard back from him...

he doesn't think it's a overheating problem he installed asus probe, and it's running stabily at 52 degress c.
He's narrowed it down to the cpu or video card. And he's replacing the cpu with an AMD 2000 to try it out.
