every 10 friggin seconds my monitor screws up. all it really does is the colors get a dark blue or green tint, and i have to smack the hell out of to get to normal. is there any way to fix? maybe it's a wire connection problem?... and how much worse is it getting by me smacking it?

what was that PEBKAC thing? and the cables are hooked up right, i think what i meant was... well you know where they plug into the computer, the little copper (ij'm guessing it's copper) things that hook into the slots... if one of those is messed up could it screw up the output?

Make sure the monitor cable isnt warped or kinked, and plugged in correctly.

The fact you are smacking it may revolve around the magnets inside. Especially with colour tinting.

I advise against opening a monitor up, to poke at - Its usually a very bad thing.

See if your warranty is still active, if the cable checks out (try a new cable if need be). If your warranty is dead, and you dont care what happens to it at this point, before buying a new one. You may want to google for instructions on dis-assembly. That latter part isnt for the faint of heart. Again I dont suggest you take these suckers apart.

Its okay to take apart as long as you watch for that big coil on the inside.. Don't touch that shit...

I've never been shocked by opening up a monitor or tv and poking around. I don't see what all the fuss is about. I think it's all lies, it's just the companies don't want you to find that secret 'reset' button that fixes it for you.

The only thing that ever scared me though was popping off the plug on the tube and hearing this freakish hiss. I sweared it was gonna explode on me or something. But now I know it was just scare tactic.

Oh come on the shock isn't that bad, as long as you don't leave the thing plugged in while you do it. lol
It's about the same as holding onto a bare spark plug wire while the car is running, a tingly sensation, lol
