i finally got my scanner software and got it working, but whenever i scan a picture, it turns out a lot darker than i want. even when i go in PS 7, to the Brightness/Contrast, it doesn't get the right colors. what could i do to make them look correct?

i'll try to scan some things from magazines, then get the pictures from the magazine websites to show you an example, but if anyone could help, i'd appreciate it.
