i got my pcclub newsletter in the email today, and they are selling the ati radeon 9200's for $86. can you by chance make them go faster? because if i understand correctly, the only difference between the 9200 and the 9800 is how fast they process informations and stuff.

9200's can not be overclocked to extreme limits like a 9500 can.. they are no where near the level of a 9800 processing power. Sorry.

To the Dough:
In the time since you first mentioned how much you hate your TNT2, had you borrowed a dollar or two each week from a parent or sibling or stranger on the street, and then stashed it, you'd now be able to afford a card so blazing you'd need to upgrade the rest of your system to be able to use it....and this is without lifting a finger to do any work.
But there's an even better way, in my opinion.
Over the last few months I've acquired an additional [small, but usable] harddrive (used), a CD burner (new), and a DVD-rom drive (used) simply by offering to help friends with tasks at which they are unskilled, but are quick and easy work for me. Just as a suggestion, you might consider offering what skills you have developed (please, guys, I'm not joking here ) to help someone who lacks those skills.
For example, say for the moment that you have knowledge of basic graphics creation, and perhaps your parents are organizing a Silly Paté social for which they plan to employ the services of Kinko's in order to create 300 invitations. Well with your design skills and a ream of card stock, you can save them a bit of cash by doing it yourself. This is a small step, and most likely this particular situation doesn't apply to you, but I hope you get the idea. It doesn't necessarily need to be a skill either...it could just be a matter of offering to help by doing various household tasks...things that could be accomplished by merely cutting back an hour here and there from timewasters we all take advantage of, like gaming and "just for the hell of it" web browsing. If your parents are human, they'll notice that their lives are a little less hectic becasue of your help, and will probably as a result be more willing to accomodate your hardware desires, or perhaps slide you some cash from time to time instead, which you could save for a killer GPU and some RAM. Yeah, yeah...it's sooooo hard to save money. Well considering all your needs are being met already, it should be a piece of christmas cake.
Maybe your parents are ogres and wouldn't give a wet slap no matter how much undirected tasks you've taken upon yourself, but chances are this is not the case. Give it a shot...it may be that within a couple of months you have a new Geforce[insert # here] or Radeon to help you see your opponent in more than 3 pixels.
So what made me write this thing? I'm presently doing one of those helpy-outy things....my roommate needs to go to work a couple hours earlier than usual today, so I'm here to make sure that happens. Even though I've had only 2 hours sleep in the last two days, i think it's worth it because he usually gives me something as payment on the days I work as human alarm clock...sometimes a little cash, sometimes smokes or beer...sometimes for free just because he's my friend. In any case all I'm doing is messing around on my puter waiting to scream at him when the clock reaches the appropriate time.
It may seem like a little task, but in the eyes of the helpee it's a great assistance and makes their lives a bit easier and/or less stressful....and many people are appreciative of your help in a material or financial way, which, as I believe I've mentioned a few times, is key to obtaining the card you so desire without having to beg for it.

So anyway...it's something to at least consider. If you don't already have a big list of chores (i always hated thse kids who didn't have chores yet still got a weekly allowance), it may be even more effective and your parents may be pleasantly surprised...enough to perhaps reconsider whether or not you deserve an upgrade.
And if you didn't bother to read this even though it was addressed specifically to you...well, I'm guessing you wouldn't be willing to bother testing this theory out anyway.

You make a good point, but I feel that even if he (or others in a similar situation) doesn't bother trying it, but at least reads through that pile of text, he may get a bit more experience with the written English language...that would be enough for me to think that it was worth sitting here being bored enough to write it.

i have enough money to buy a gf2 or sommin but my parents wont let me.... i get 10 bucks allowance well lunch money .... and most weeks i put away 5 for when i wanna buy some new game for my ps2 or if i wanna go to the movies....but then once it goes in the bank account it never comes out.... that is why i keep some lying around iin my room....

Dough from now on every time you have the urge to play video games for 6 hours straight take one hour or half an hour and sit on the net with a binder and paper in hard hands and learn something you didn't know.. even if you don't have the tools or equipment for it..

There are tons and tons of docs online for everything.. You asked about wireless the other day.. There is some really cool shit you can do with wireless, We are in the process of shooting a wireless network between 3 blocks for file sharing between 3 places and shooting a directional 6 miles to some houses... So we can sell an enrypted line of internet to people who are out of range for DSL and cable..

good stuff they pay top dollar too.

i only play games for like 2hours straight fter that i get bored unless it is a brand spanking new game or rpg like priston tale...

there's always, shock, reading? A good book can be just as engrossing as a game, and you don't need power to read.

A quick (<2mins) rummage on google turned up a link to something called, NVmax, if your other options consist of throwing your TNT2 around, it might be worth a try?

Dough: Im not even from Toronto(just schooling here at the moment), and I can navigate the TTC maps with ease.. I got the printed out one, I just look at the place in question, and you'll see which Route Buses travel that way.. this little pamphlet/map has been a god-send for me.

I searched for "TNT2 overclocking" and clicked through half a dozen or so results.

alright i got a program called RivaTuner and i over clocked my card by 5 mhz.... i say i go up by 5 mhz every now and then... it was 125 and now it is 130...

I wouldn't bother Doughy, the gains will be tiny and you run the risk of the card overheating - unless of course you have fitted a better fan on the GPU.

If it over heats you'll probably have the graphics crash; any sound it the background would probably keep running whilst everything on screen locks up solid. I had it happen a few times with my old GeForce2 MX400 (which is now running fine in my bro's PC, hmm).
